  General Rules  
 
  1. Use of the pool shall be restricted to the Club members in good standing, the duly registered members of their families and approved guests.  Upon entering the pool, all members must present their current membership card and guests must sign-in with attendant. Guests are required to wear a wristband at all times. Failure to do so could result in ejection from the club.  Members not presenting their card will be fined according to the fine schedule posted at the club.
  2. The pool manager and staff are in full charge and are authorized and delegated by the Board of Directors to enforce all rules and regulations.
  3. All persons shall use the pool, club property and facilities at their own risk.  The Closter Swim Club will not be responsible for any accidents or injuries in connection with such use or for loss or damage to personal property.
  4. The Swim Club and its employees will not be responsible for any personal possessions brought on premises, or left at the Swim Club.
  5. A member family may be charged for the cost of repair and/or replacement of property damaged or destroyed by a member or guest of that family.
  6. Pool staff are not to be used as “baby-sitters” nor can they be made responsible for children in the absence of parents.  The principle duty of staff members is to guard the pool and maintain proper protection at all times and they cannot take on additional duties of a personal nature for individuals. Parents must supervise their children on the playground at all times. An adult must accompany children who are non-swimmers at all times. A non-swimmer is any bather who is unable to successfully swim 25 yards using any stroke.
  7.  Parents or other adults must supervise children who are non-swimmers when they are in the adult pool as well as in the wading pool.  Parents are directly responsible for the safety of their children.
  8. Persons who are non-swimmers are prohibited from using the diving area.
  9. Use of the children’s wading pool shall be limited to children under the age of eight years old.
  10. Children under the age of ELEVEN years old will not be admitted unless accompanied by an adult or  another child sixteen years of age or older. An adult (18 yrs. or older) must accompany children under the age of ELEVEN after 6:30pm except on designated kids’ nights.
  11. Possession, display or consumption of alcoholic beverages is strictly prohibited. Persons suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol shall be prohibited from entering or remaining in the facility.
  12. Smoking anywhere within the club is strictly prohibited due to Health Department Regulations. Smoking is only allowed outside the front gate.
  13. No food or refreshments other than water are to be consumed in pool area except in prescribed areas.  Any food brought into the pool area must be stored in the designated areas. No glass bottles or containers are allowed on club grounds as per State Law. After being given one warning, violators will be ejected for the remainder of the day. Habitual violators are subject to suspension from the club pending a Board of Directors Review.  (CSC Board Policy 2006)
  14. The picnic area will be available during regular pool hours. Members are expected to clean up all refuse, paper, etc, before leaving area.
  15. Dressing or undressing must take place only in the locker rooms.
  16. Illegal access to Closter Swim Club will be referred to the Closter Police Department. Trespassers will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and members could be subject to revocation of membership privileges.
  17.  The following activities are prohibited:
  • Carrying a lighted cigarette, cigar, pipe or other flammable or smoking substance anywhere within the club grounds.
  • Dunking, sitting on shoulders or any other type of rough play that in the sole discretion of the guards or pool officials is likely to cause injury or disruption to the enjoyment of the pool by other swimmers is prohibited.
  • Hanging on ropes or lanes in the pool.
  • Sliding down railings or hanging on ladders.
  • Use of water guns or other spray type devices.
  • Running anywhere within the CSC property.
  • Diving into water that is less than 8 feet deep (diving allowed in diving area only, unless during swim team practice or competition.
  • Abusive or foul language.

* When additional rules are deemed necessary for the proper operation of the facility and the protection of its patrons, the management has been authorized to implement such rules and post same at the facility. Management reserves the right to stop any activity that it deems unsafe, disruptive or interfering with the rights of the other members to enjoy the club.

 
  Health and Safety

  1. Floating objects such as inflated tubes, water wings or toys are prohibited in the main pool, as are underwater masks, flippers, snorkels, etc., except at times specified, or under direct supervision of a member of the CSC staff.
  2. It is required that all bathers shower before entering the pool.
  3. Children not toilet trained and/or under the age of 4 are not permitted in the main pool.
  4. Use of the children’s wading pool shall be limited to children seven years old and under.
  5. Children in diapers must wear plastic pants or swim diapers with snug fitting elastic waist and legs. Diapers may not be changed poolside. Please use changing tables in locker rooms.
  6. Admission to the pool may be refused to anyone with skin abrasions, infections, open wounds, colds, coughs, inflamed eyes or wearing bandages.
  7. Blowing of noses or expectorating in the pool is prohibited.
  8. No running, jumping, wrestling, pushing, ball playing or other hazardous or noisy disturbances are permitted in the pool area.
  9. State regulations prohibit diving into water five feet or less in depth. Diving is therefore restricted to diving area only. Racing blocks are for competitive use by the swim team, during supervised activities only.
  10. No street shoes are to be worn on paved area around the pool
  11. No glass containers of any sort are permitted on the club property and grounds. (NJ State Code Regulations)
  12. No pets are allowed on club property.
  13. Playpens, strollers and similar wheeled items are permitted in the pool area but not on the concrete deck and must be attended to at all times (ban on wheels lifted 1/95)
  14. The pool and surrounding area must be cleared during a thunderstorm. Instructions and directives are at the discretion of the manager on duty.
  15. Members shall drive carefully on the approach road Blanche Ave and in the parking lot.
  16. Only regular swimming attire will be permitted in the pool. CSC is a “family” place. Please: No thong or G-string bathing suits.
  17. Bicycles shall be parked in designated area at all times.
  18. All cars are to be parked in prescribed areas.  Members, guests, employees and all others using the club parking lot shall observe the handicapped parking laws as they apply to the public areas, as set forth in the D.M.V. code (New 11/93).
  19. Persons suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol shall be prohibited from entering the club or water and will be asked to leave the premises.
